NTL CROSS COUNTRY: VOUGH LEADS ATHENS GIRLS TO WINS OVER NP-M, SAYRE; ATHENS BOYS TOP SAYRE, FALL TO NP-M (24 PHOTOS) (2025-09-23)

Valley Sports Report
SAYRE — Sophomore Alissa Vough ran to a first-place finish and led the Athens girls to wins over Sayre and North Penn-Mansfield here Tuesday afternoon, while the Athens boys split a pair of decisions in NTL cross country action at Riverfront Park.

GIRLS
Athens 15, Sayre 50
Athens 22, NP-M 37
NP-M 15, Sayre 50

Vough broke the tape in a time of 20:53, while sophomore Marlene Roelle was third in 23:00, and senior Ava Hughes was fourth in 23:27.

Senior Karolin Roelle was eighth for the Wildcats, while junior Haylie Horton was 10th in 26:06, and sophomore Tatyana Nasser was 11th in 26:16.

Freshman Adeline Burnett finished 12th for Athens in 27:02, and Mya Allen was 13th in 29:08, and Sayre's Breanna McLinko finished 14th.

BOYS
Athens 15, Sayre 50
NP-M 24, Athens 33
NP-M 15, Sayre 50

Juniors Jacob Shores and Matt Rossettie finished 2-3, but North Penn-Mansfield had five of the top nine finishers to pull out a 24-33 win over the Wildcats.

Shores clocked in at 18:34, while Rossetti crossed the finish line in 19:13.

Sayre junior Glenn VanBenthuysen finished fifth in a time of 20:47.

Corbin Smith finished seventh for the Wildcats in a time of 21:02, while Andrew DeForest was 10th in 22:50, and Kamden Knapp was 11th in 27:01.

Sayre's Jayden Sinsabaugh finished 12th in 30:30.

Junior High
Boys

Athens Rowan Morales won the junior high race in a time of 9:45, while Nico Rossettie was second in 10:02, and Sayre's Peter Menio was third in 10:54.

Landon Liddard was seventh for Athens in 12:12, and Sayre's Jake Johnson was eighth in 12:13.

Girls
Evelyn Owen (10:56), Sadie Wanck (11:10) and Allie Lyon (11:18) finished second through fourth, respectively, in the junior high girls race, and Paisley Smith was fifth in a time of 11:26.
