JUNIOR HIGH GOLF: ATHENS' GLIELMI, CARLSON, COLDIRON WIN DIVISIONS AT INAUGURAL ATHENS INVITATIONAL (2025-09-27)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — The Athens junior high golf team hosted its inaugural Athens Invitational Junior High and JV Golf Tournament here at Shepard Hills last Sunday.
Twenty-four golfers from Athens, Elk Lake, and Tunkhannock participated in three different divisions showcasing their golfing talents and skills.
Division A was designed for more experienced golfers, Division B for golfers newer to the game, and the JV Division welcomed beginner golfers in grades 9 through 11. Boys in Division A and the JV Division played from the White Tees at Shepard Hills and the girls played from the Yellow Tees. A par-3 course with holes measuring approximately 100 yards was set up for players in Division B.
Seventh-grader Ethan Glielmi of Athens shot a 42 earning the lowest score of the tournament and the win in the Boys Division A group.
Athens golfer Silas Bennett took second with a 44 on his card, Rowan Morales of Athens shot a 50, and Athens golfer Kolbe Coe shot a 58.
Eighth-grader, Lilah Carlson of Athens shot a 45 earning first in the Girls Division A group.
Bryce Coldiron, an eighth-grader, took first with a 45 in the Boys Division B group.
Seventh-grader Eli Reeves of Athens shot a 48 taking second among the seventh-graders in the Boys Division B group.
Rounding out Division B, eighth-grader Colton Jennings shot a 49 taking second in his group, and seventh-grader Abel Crawford took third in his group carding a 51.
Tunkhannock seventh grader Travis Ide shot a 41 to take home the crown in the Boys Seventh-Grade group in Division B and Dakota Slody shot a 54 as a seventh-grader to win the Girls group in Division B.
Ninth-grader Jaxson Kerr of Tunkhannock won the JV Division with a score of 56.
Teams will reunite for tournaments at Tall Pines Players Club and Shadowbrook Golf Course on Sept. 30 and Oct. 4.
