NTL GIRLS SOCCER: LIVERPOOL EDGES ATHENS, 1-0, AT HALL OF FAME TOURNAMENT (2025-09-28)
Valley Sports ReportONEONTA — Liverpool scored early in the second half to pull out a 1-0 win over Athens here Sunday afternoon at the Hall of Fame Tournament.
"It was a very competitive game for us," said Athens coach Rich Pitts.
"Both teams had good chances," he noted. "They finished one and we didn’t.
"We will continue to work on finishing our chances this week with another busy week of games," added Pitts.
After a scoreless first half, Emeile Masterson scored about 10 minutes after the intermission to give Liverpool a 1-0 lead.
The Legends, a Class AA program in N.Y. (equivalent to 4A / 5A in Pa.) had a 14-5 advantage in shots-on-goal.
Sophomore Annika Lezak recorded 13 saves in net for the Wildcats.
Athens, now 6-5, returns to action Tuesday at Wellsboro.
