NTL VOLLEYBALL: ATHENS AVENGES EARLY-SEASON LOSS; BEATS TOWANDA IN FOUR SETS (12 PHOTOS) (2025-09-30)

TOWANDA — Athens avenged an early-season loss with a 3-1 win over Towanda here Tuesday night in NTL Large School Division volleyball action.

The Wildcats won the first two sets by identical scores of 25-19, but the Black Knights prevented a sweep with a 25-23 win in the third set. Athens closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.

It was a great team effort all the way," said Athens coach Heather Darrow. "The girls fought hard the whole time and different
players really stepped up tonight, like Emma Mallore, who had 6 kills, no errors, and 11 attempts.

The girls proved it to themselves tonight," added Darrow. "I am so proud of them."

Sophomore Ellie Mosher registered 17 kills, 16 digs, and two service aces, while junior Meg Wiles had 40 setter assists and 17 digs, and freshman Kayla Forbes recorded 23 digs and 24 serve-receptions.

"Kayla Forbes ran corner-to-corner, flying around the court," said Darrow. "And, our fierce captain Hannah Parrish crushed it in the back row, and Lainey Vosburgh served great.

Senior Regan McDaniel had eight kills and three blocks in the win, while sophomore Kendall Galasso had nine kills, three aces, and nine digs, and junior Hannah Parrish had 14 serve-receptions, 13 digs, and two aces.

Sophomore Lainey Vosburgh had three aces, 18 digs, and nine serve-receptions for the Wildcats, while junior Emma Mallare added six kills, and junior Ella Raynor capped in with five kills.

Athens, now 3-8, hosts Wellsboro Thursday.
