Valley Sports Report
FRIENDSVILLE, Pa. — Seventh-grader E.J. Glielmi and 8th-grader Lilah Carlson each finished first in their respective divisions at the Tall Pines Junior High Golf Tournament here Tuesday afternoon at Tall Pines Players Club.

Sixty student-athletes from New York State and Northeastern Pennsylvania competed in the junior high event.

The tournament was split into two divisions: Division A Boys and Girls and Division B Boys and Girls. The 51 Division A participants were more experienced players and played the front nine from the gold tees (boys) and the red tees (girls), while the nine Division B participants played on a par-3 course on the back nine from pre-determined tee boxes

Glielmi withstood the pressure of a putt-off to break the tie for first place. He shot a 41 and tied for the lowest score of all players in the tournament.

Carlson took home the first-place crown in the Girls Division A earning the second-lowest score of all players in Division A with a 42.

Athens 7th-grader Silas Bennett tied for fourth overall in Division A with a score of 45, Kolbe Coe carded a 52, and Bryce Coldiron shot 61 to round out the Athens team in Division A.

Seventh-grader Eli Reeves shot a 48 to take home second place in Division B for the boys, while Abel Crawford took care of business in a putt-off to earn a third-place finish for the boys in Division B. Colton Jennings carded 54 in Division B.

Athens will travel to Tunkhannock on Saturday for a tournament at Shadowbrook Golf Course. Start time is 1 p.m.
