NTL VOLLEYBALL: ATHENS WINS FIRST SET; WELLSBORO RALLIES FOR 3-1 WIN (October 2, 2025)
Valley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens pulled out a hard-fought win in the first set, but Wellsboro re-group to win the next three sets for a 3-1 win here Thursday night in NTL Large School volleyball action.
The Wildcats won the first set 27-25, but the Hornets answered with wins of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-18.
"We fought hard in that first set," said Athens coach Heather Darrow. "We have to find a way to keep that energy going through to the rest of the match."
Athens falls to 3-9 on the season, but have only been swept twice.
Sophomore Ellie Mosher led Athens with 19 kills 13 digs, and four service aces, while junior Meg Wiles recorded 31 assists, and 19 digs, and freshman Kayla Forbes had 23 digs, and 27 serve-receptions.
Sophomore Lainey Vosburgh had 10 digs, and 13 serve-receptions for the Wildcats, while sophomore Kendall Galasso registered seven kills, and five aces, and senior Regan McDaniel added six kills.
Athens returns to action next Thursday at Dallas.
