IAC GIRLS SOCCER: LATE PK LIFTS TIOGA TO 2-1 WIN OVER O-M (24 PHOTOS) (2025-10-04)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Senior Sophia Haney converted a penalty kick with 55 seconds remaining in the game to lift Tioga to a 2-1 win over Odessa-Montour in IAC girls soccer action here on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Haggerty Field.
"Senior nights or days always have me feeling skeptical," said Tioga coach Emily Potter. "I never know how we are going to react to the situations, but we came out on top of a very well- and hard-played game.
"It was a tough fight, all the way to the very end with Grace getting dropped in the box earning us a PK in the final minute of the game," noted Potter. "Sophia held her composure, like always, walked up and did her job.
"It’s been awhile since we have had to play in the heat like today, but we got the job done," added Potter.
Freshman Grace Howey scored midway through the first half to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead, which it carries into the halftime intermission.
O-M standout Leah Antes scored with 21:26 remaining in the game to tie the game at 1-1.
Tioga had an 18-10 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks.
Junior Marcy Moniz recorded four saves in net for Tioga.
Tioga, now 6-4, returns to action Monday against SVEC at Candor High School.
