JV VOLLEYBALL: ATHENS FINISHES FOURTH AT 'VOLLEY IN THE VALLEY JV TOURNAMENT' (2025-10-07)

ATHENS — Athens hosted and placed fourth in the second annual Volley in the Valley JV Tournament here Saturday.

The field including Elk Lake, Troy, Towanda, Dallas, Williamson, Canton, Tunkhannock, Abington Heights, and Athens.

The top three teams from each pool advanced to bracket play.

Advancing from Pool A was Dallas, Towanda and Troy, while Abington Heights, Athens and Tunkhannock advanced from Pool B. 

Pool winners Dallas and Abington Heights received byes into the semifinals.

In the quarterfinals, Tunkhannock topped Towanda, and Athens bested Troy.

In the semifinals, Dallas topped Athens, and Abington Heights beat Tunkhannock.

In the finals, Dallas won the first set, 26-24, and the third set, 15-11. In between, Abington Heights forced a third set with a 25-22 win.

In the third-place match, Athens won the first set, 25-18, but Tunkhannock bounced back to win the next two sets 25-19 and 15-10.
