SECTION IV FOOTBALL: TIOGA RACES OUT TO 34-0 LEAD; TOPS GROTON, 34-22 (24 PHOTOS) (2025-10-10)
Valley Sports ReportGROTON — Tioga scored on its first five possessions, racing out to a 34-0 lead on its way to a 34-22 win over Groton here Friday night in Section IV, Division VII football action.
Tioga took the opening kickoff and quickly moved 56 yards for a score. The drive featured runs of 29 and 15 yards by senior Logan Bellis, and a 9-yard run by junior Max Stauder.
Bellis capped the drive with a 3-yard TD run to make it 6-0 just 2 1/2 minutes into the game.
The Tigers' next possession was more of the same, with Stauder capping a seven-play drive with a 2-yard TD run. The conversion run made it 14-0.
The Tigers made it 21-0 on a 49-yard TD pass from junior QB Jackson Bombard to senior Dominic Palmer late in the first quarter.
Bellis capped the first-half scoring midway through the second quarter with a 26-yard TD run.
Senior Kadin Cole scored on a 12-yard TD run on Tioga's first possession of the second-half to make it 34-0.
Groton scored three TDs against Tioga's second defensive unit to provide the final margin.
Tioga rolled up 316 yards in total offense, including 257 yards rushing yards on 38 carries.
Bellis led the Tigers with 135 yards and two TDs on 12 carries, while Stauder had 30 yards and one TD on seven carries, and senior Jayden Duncanson added 30 yards on four carries.
Bombard completed 2 of 4 passes for 59 yards and one TD. Palmer had one catch for 49 yards and one TD, and Stauder had one grab for 10 yards.
Duncanson and led Tioga with nine tackles, including five solo stops,, while senior Gage Hopkins had nine tackles, including four solo stops, and Palmer and Cole each had eight tackles, including four solo stops.
Tioga, now 5-1, returns to action Friday at Trumansburg, which upended SVEC, 28-6.
