H.S. CROSS COUNTRY: VOUGH, SHORES POST TOP-10 FINISHES; ATHENS GIRLS, BOYS BOTH PLACE SIXTH AT BOB GREENE INVITE (2025-10-11)

NEWARK VALLEY — Sophomore Alissa Vough and junior Jacob Shores posted top-10 finishes to lead the Athens girls and boys to sixth-place finishes here Friday afternoon at the Bob Greene Cross Country Invitational.

GIRLS
Athens finished sixth in the team standings with 143 placement points, District 2's Abington Heights won the team title with 50 points, while Elk Lake was second with 58 points, and Owego was third with 75 points.

Vough finished seventh in a time of 20:33.3 on the 3.1-mile course, while senior Ava Hughes was 26th in 22:42.3, and sophomore Marlene Roelle was 29th in 23:06.3.

Senior Karolin Roelle finished 47th in 24:30.4, while sophomore Tatyana Nasser (25:48.8) and freshman Adaline Burnett (25:58.2) were 60th and 61st, respectively.

Junior Haylie Horton finished 69th for the Wildcats in a time of 27:19.4, while freshman Mya Allen was 76th in 27:59.7, and freshman Katyayani Kinthala was 81st in 30:26.1.

BOYS
Athens finished sixth in the team standings with 181 points. Elk Lake, which had the top three finishers, won the team title with 38 points, while Horseheads was second with 91, and Abington Heights was third with 101 points.

Shores finished ninth in a time of 17:46.9, while junior Matt Rossettie was 17th in 18:12.0, and senior Parker Wanck was 30th in 18:49.5.

Junior Corbin Smith finished 86th in a time of 21:57.2, while senior Andrew DeForest was 86th in 21:57.2, freshman Micah Simwale was 96th in 23:06.3, and junior Kamden Knapp was 112th in 24:55.9.

JUNIOR HIGH
BOYS
Rowan Morales finished ninth in a time of 9:41.8 to pace Athens on the 1.5-mile course, and Landon Liddiard was 72nd in a time of 13:07.5.

GIRLS
Evelyn Owen led the Athens contingent with a 10th-place finish in a time of 11:21.8 on the 1.5-mile course.
