STAC BOYS GOLF: WALTER CARDS LOW-MEDAL ROUND; SETON USE DEPTH TO TOP WAVERLY IN SEASON FINALE (2025-10-13)

WAVERLY — Waverly sophomore Griff Walter earned low-medal honors, but Seton Catholic had six golfers shoot 46 or better in a 224-239 win in the season finale here Monday afternoon at The Club at Shepard Hills.

"The guys had a strong season, even if our record wasn’t where we wanted it to be," said Waverly coach Marc Felt. 

"We lowered our team scoring average by more than 10 strokes from last year, and I’m proud of how hard these men competed all year.

"Good things are ahead for us in 2026," added Felt.

Walter shot a 43 on the par-37 front nine at Shepard Hills, while senior Mac Talada shot a 46, and junior Daniel Brady carded a 47.

Junior Daniel Fischer added a 50 for the Wolverines, while sophomore Trevor Allen tacked on a 53. Senior Tammo Bruns had a non-scoring round of 57.

Mark Redmore and Max Yeager each shot 44 to lead the Saints, while Anthony Coppola and Johnny Knutson each carded 45, and jack Bouton and Cooper Witkin each had rounds of 46.

Waverly wraps up the 2025 campaign with a 3-12 mark, and will return four starters next year.

"We’ll miss our two seniors greatly," said Felt. 

"Mac 'Bucket Hat Boy' Talada has been part of this program for six years, and made a name for himself across the STAC the last two seasons. 

"Tammo Bruns, our exchange student from Germany, joined us just before the season began, qualified for every match, and was a great addition to the team," noted Felt. 

"Both of them brought leadership and personality that will leave a lasting impact on the program," Felt added. "It’s been an honor to coach and get to know these two great young men."
