SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: D-H PULLS AWAY IN SECOND HALF OF 4-0 WIN OVER TIOGA (20 PHOTOS) (2025-10-15)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — After a scoreless first half, Deposit-Hancock scored early in the fourth quarter and pulled away for a 4-0 win over Tioga here Wednesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
"We came out really strong and ended the first half tied at zero," said Tioga coach Aubrey Worthing.
"We were able to watch some film of our last game and make some adjustments to our positioning which has been very beneficial to our game.
"In the second half, we resorted to some old habits of playing more of a defensive game," added Worthing. "Overall, we played well and worked as a team."
After 30 minutes of scoreless action, Aubrey Smith found the back of the cage just 36 seconds after the intermission to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
With 2:06 remaining in the third quarter, Abby Davie, off a feed from Smith, who had two goals and two assists, scored to make it 2-0.
Nora Bartholomew and Smith finished off the scoring with goals on a 62-second span early in the fourth quarter.
D-H had a 19-1 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 10-0 edge in penalty corners.
Vangie Decker recorded 12 saves in the cage for the Tigers.
Tioga closes out the 2025 season Wednesday at Newark Valley.
