NEW YORK STATE FOOTBALL: TIOGA STILL ATOP CLASS D RANKINGS; WAVERLY REMAINS 4TH IN CLASS B (2025-10-16)

TIOGA COUNTY — Tioga, Waverly, and Owego saw their spots in the latest New York State Sportswriters Association football ranking go unchanged, while SVEC dropped into the honorable mention category after its loss to Trumansburg last week.

CLASS D
If the Sportswriters poll is to be believed, Class D in Section IV is the best Section in the state, with four teams in the Top 15, and two more honorable mentions.

Tioga, at 5-1, is ranked No. 1, while Deposit-Hancock (5-1) is 10th, Delhi (4-2) 12th, and Trumansburg (4-2) 14th.

Sidney (4-1) and SVEC (4-2) are honorable mentions.

Section II's Greenwich (6-0), Section I'd Tuckahoe (6-0), Section VI's Newfane (6-0), and Section III's Lowville (6-0) are ranked second through fifth, respectively.

A few familiar names in Tioga's past are also in the rankings with Section II's Cambridge-Salem (5-1) sixth, Dolgeville (4-1) seventh, and Section V's Randolph (4-2) an honorable mention. CSP is an honorable mention in Class C.

CLASS B
Waverly, now 6-0, remains ranked fourth in the State in Class B, while Owego remains 13th, one spot behind Maine-Endwell (2-3).

Norwich (3-3) is an honorable mention.

Section IX's Port Jervis (6-0), Section XI's Sayville (5-0), and Section V's Monroe (6-0) are ranked first through third, respectively, and Section III's New Hartford (5-0) is fifth.

CLASS C
Chenango Forks (5-0) remains atop the Class C rankings, with Oneonta ranked 20th.

8-MAN
Thomas A. Edison (5-0) is ranked third in the eight-man ranks, with Unatego-Franklin )5-1) seventh, and Moravia (4-1) eighth.

CLASS A
Union-Endicott (4-1) is ranked 18th in Class A, and Horseheads (5-1)dropped to 24th after its loss to U-E.
