THE VALLEY — Athens closes out its home season against NTL Small School power Muncy tonight, while Tioga is on the road in a key divisional game at Trumansburg on the ninth "Football Friday" of the season.

FOOTBALL
Muncy (5-3) at Athens (7-1), 7 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off a 56-21 win over Wyalusing, while the Indians dropped a 28-20 decision to South Williamsport.

The Wildcats are currently third in the Class 4A power rankings, and need some help to get a home playoff game. Jersey Shore is second with remaining games against Scranton Prep (4-4) and Central Mountain (0-8).

Athens is outscoring its opponents by an average of 48.3 to 22.9 points per game, while Muncy has outscored its foes 25.4 to 13.9 points per game.

Athens junior QB Connor Davidson has completed 62.7 percent (84 of 134) of his passes for 1,522 yards, 22 TDs and six interceptions, with senior James Friend leading the receiving corps with 24 grabs for 470 yards, and eight TDs. He's also run for 763 yards and eight TDs.

Muncy has averaged 295 yards — 172.6 passing and 122.4 rushing — in total offense per game. Senior QB Andrew Walters has completed 58.4 percent (97 of 166) of his passes for 1,291 yards, 10 TDs and eight interceptions. He also leads the team with 396 rushing yards and 10 TDs.

Tioga (5-1, 3-0) at Trumansburg (4-2, 3-0), 7 p.m.:
The Tigers are coming off a 34-22 win over Groton in a game it lead 34-0 in the third quarter, while the Blue Raiders posted a 28-6 win over SVEC.

Tioga and Trumansburg are both 3-0 in divisional play, and a win tonight will virtually ensure a division title.

Tioga is outscoring its opponents by an average of 29.3 to 15.7 points per game on the season, while Trumansburg has outscored its foes 32.3 to 18.1 points per game.

Senior tailback Logan Bellis is healthy and tearing it up for the Tigers, while junior fullback Max Stauder has become a weapon, and senior Dominic Palmer is a versatile threat and can do damage in a number of ways.

Junior QB Jackson Bombard is constantly improving and has weapons in senior Gavin Albrecht, junior Gavin Kithcart, Palmer, senior Alan Winans, and Bellis.

Trumansburg is coming off an impressive win over SVEC and played Delhi very tough in a 30-26 loss earlier in the season.
