STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: KITTLE BREAKS TWO MORE RECORDS; WAVERLY BEATS ONEONTA, 102-69 (2025-10-17)
Valley Sports ReportONEONTA — Senior Mira Kittle won four events, and was part of three new pool records, including a record in the books since 1984, in leading Waverly to a 102-69 win over Oneonta here Friday evening in STAC girls swimming action.
Sophomore Lauryn Welles, and freshman Megan Atanasoff and Natalie Steck for the Wolverines, who improve to 6-0 on the season.
Kittle broke a 41-year-old record in the 50-yard freestyle, and a 21-year-old mark in the 100-yard backstroke. She was also part of 200-yard medley relay that established a new pool record.
Kittle led a sweep in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in with a new pool-record time of 24.84 seconds, eclipsing the record of 24.91 seconds set in 1984. Atanasoff was second in 25.7 seconds, and Cheresnowsky was third in 26.8 seconds.
Kittle won the 100-yard backstroke in a new pool-record time of 1:01.12, and Cheresnowsky was second in 1:05.81.
Kittle, Cheresnowsky, Atanasoff and Steck won the 200-yard medley relay in a new pool-record time of 1:53.96, eclipsing the mark of 1:56.3 set in 2016.
Kittle, and Cheresnowsky teamed with Welles and freshman Audrey Kellogg to win the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 4:02.15.
Atanasoff, Welles, Steck, and Kellogg won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:44.59.
Atanasoff won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.71, and senior Lizzy Robinson was second in 1:13.98.
Welles won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 55.87 seconds, and Kellogg was second in 58.22 seconds.
Steck won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:14.04, and Welles was third in 1:18.76.
Kellogg finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.19
Steck finished second in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:33.41.
Waverly returns to action Wednesday against Owego and Greene at Greene.
