STAC CROSS COUNTRY: HINE, MONTANYE POST TOP-10 FINISH TO LEAD WAVERLY AT MARATHON INVITE (2025-10-18)
Valley Sports ReportMARATHON — Waverly junior Chase Hine and sophomore Hayden Montanye both recorded top-10 finishes to pace Waverly's efforts here Saturday at the rugged Marathon Cross Country Invitational.
Hine placed seventh in a time of 18:02 on the 3.1-mile Appleby Elementary School course, while Montanye was 10th in 18:31.
Freshman Colten Santalucia was 41st in 20:36, while junior Jayden Washington was 79th in 22:10, and sophomore Garret Akins was 110th in 23:52.
Waverly finished sixth out of 14 teams in the team title chase with 175 placement points. Elmira won the team title with 97 points, while Groton was second with 115 points, and Newark Valley was third with 131.
GIRLSSophomore Miah Correll led the Wolverines with a 34th-place finish in a tie of 24:54.7, and junior Taylor Sinsabaugh was 42nd in 25:28.6.
MODIFIEDPepper Mosier finished 45th in a time of 12:30 in the Large School junior high girls race, while Michael McNeal was 114th in 14:00.4 in the boys race.
