COLLEGE FOOTBALL: ATHENS GRAD MACHMER SCORES SECOND TD OF SEASON IN MANSFIELD WIN (2025-10-19)

HILLBURN, N.Y. — Athens grad Matt Machmer, a freshman on the Mansfield University sprint football team, scored his second TD of the season in the Mountaineers' 34-18 win over St. Thomas Aquinas here Friday night.

Machmer, who played defense in his first three collegiate games, played wide receiver and made his first catch — a 34-yard TD reception.

On the season, Machmer has 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, and two interceptions, including a 60-yard pick-six.

Fellow Athens grad Damian Hudson, also a freshman, had 19 rushing yards on five carries. On the season, he has 54 yards on 14 carries, including a long of 14 yards.

Mansfield, now 3-1, returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts Cornell.
