STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: WAVERLY WRAPS UP SECOND STRAIGHT UNBEATEN SEASON WITH WINS OVER OWEGO, GREENE (2025-10-22)
Valley Sports ReportGREENE — Waverly completed its second straight unbeaten duals season with convincing wins over Owego and Greene here Wednesday night in girls swimming action.
The Wolverines won 10 of 11 events to top Owego, 117-57, and best Greene, 129-21.
Senior Mira Kittle and freshman Natalie Steck each won four events, while senior Olivia Cheresnowsky and sophomore Lauryn Welles were triple-winners, and freshmen Megan Atanasoff and Audrey Kellogg were double-winners for the Wolverines, who wrap up the regular-season at 8-0 and winners of 16 straight.
Kittle and Steck teamed with Cheresnowsky and Atanasoff to win the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:56.03, while the Waverly foursome of freshmen Brynna Twedt and Ayla Wheeler, senior Lizzy Robinson, and Izzy Miner was second in 2:15.03.
Kittle, Cheresnowsky, Atanasoff, and Welles teamed to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:07.1, and the Wolverine quartet of Twedt, Wheeler, Robinson and Miner was second in 4:37.53.
Steck and Welles teamed with Kellogg and Twedt to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:48.23.
Kittle led a sweep of the top three spots in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in with a time of 1:02.42, while Cheresnowsky was second at 1:06.27, and Atanasoff was third in 1:10.25.
Kittle also led a sweep of the top three spots in the 100-yard butterfly, winning in a time of 1:01.41, while Atanasoff was second in 1:05.4, and Robinson was third in 1:12.86.
Steck also won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.82, and Welles was second in 1:21.22.
Steck also won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:38.05.
Welles led a sweep of the top three spots in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in with a time of 1:00.12, while Kellogg was second in 1:00.96, and Twedt was third in 1:01.18.
Cheresnowsky led a sweep of the top three spots in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking in with a time of 26.28 seconds. Wheeler was second in 28.51 seconds, and Miner was third at 29.26 seconds.
Kellogg won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:20.18, and Robinson was second in 2:25.53.
Senior Sophie Williams finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:25.56.
Waverly returns to action at Section IV, Class B preliminaries on Nov. 5 at Maine-Endwell.
