THE WEEK AHEAD: PIAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS HEADLINES BUSY WEEK OF POSTSEASON ACTION (2025-10-26)
Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — Football's regular-season in New York comes to a close this weekend, but this week's docket features a host of postseason action, including the PIAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
There are currently nine events on this week's docket, with a chance for three more to be added.
The following are all of the varsity events this week:
MONDAY (2)• Athens takes on Shamokin in the District 4, Class 3A semifinals at Danville High School. If the Wildcats win, they will play in the finals Wednesday at Williamsport H.S.
• Sayre squares off with Sugar Valley Rural Charter in the District 4, Class A semifinals at Athens Area High School. If the Redskins win, they will play in the finals Thursday at Athens H.S.
TUESDAY (0)There are no events on the schedule.
WEDNESDAY (2)• The Athens boys take on Selinsgrove in the District 4, Class 3A championship game at Danville High School.
• Waverly travels to Chenango Forks for a Section IV, Class A girls soccer semi-final match-up. If the Wolverines win, they will play for the Section title Saturday.
• Tioga is in action at the IAC Cross Country Championships.
THURSDAY (0)There are no events currently on the schedule.
FRIDAY (3)• Athens football travels to Jersey Shore for the semifinals of the District 4, Class 4A playoffs.
• Tioga football hosts SVEC with the division title on the line.
• Waverly wraps up the regular season at home against Oneonta.
SATURDAY (1)• Athens sophomore Alissa Vough will run at the PIAA, Class AA Cross Country Championships at Hershey.
