THE VALLEY — Athens boys soccer and volleyball both vie for District 4 titles Wednesday, while the Waverly girls open the Section IV soccer playoffs against a divisional rival in the biggest day of the postseason to date.

BOYS SOCCER
District 4 Playoffs

Class 3A Championship
1-Athens (11-5-2) vs. 2-Selinsgrove (8-9-2), 6 p.m. @ Danville H.S.: The Wildcats are coming off a penalty kick win (4-2) over Shikellamy in the Class 3A semifinals, while the Seals edged Mifflinburg, 1-0.

Last year, Selinsgrove topped Athens, 2-0, in the Class 3A finals. The Seals also beat the Wildcats in the 3A finals in 2019, and the semifinals in 2022.

GIRLS SOCCER
Section IV Playoffs

Class A Semifinals
3-Waverly (6-7-1) at 2-Chenango Valley (10-3-2), 6 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 1-0 overtime loss to Chenango Valley in the regular-season finale on Oct. 8, while the Warriors blanked Delhi, 3-0, on Oct. 13.

In their first meeting this season, Waverly beat CV, 2-1.

VOLLEYBALL

District 4 Playoffs 
Class 3A Championship
1-Danville (15-5) vs. Athens (8-11), 6 p.m. @ Williamsport H.S.: The Wildcats are coming off a 3-1 win over Shamokin in the Class 3A semifinals, while the top-seeded Ironmen swept Midd-West.

Their only common opponent this season is Selinsgrove, and Athens and Danville both swept the Seals.

Last year, Athens swept Danville in the Class 3A semifinals.
