Caden Bellis, a redshirt freshman on the University of Pennsylvania, made his collegiate debut in a fifth-place finish here Saturday at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic at Freedom High School.
Wrestling up a weight class, Bellis finished 1-2 in the 174-pound White bracket.
Army's Dakota Morris scored takedowns in each of the first two periods in an 8-0 win over Bellis in the opening round of pool play.
In his second match, Bellis gave up a first-period takedown in a 4-0 loss to Harvard's Haden Bottiglieri.
Bellis earned his first collegiate win in the fifth-place match with a 14-4 major decision over Long Island University's Domenic D'Agostino.
Bellis scored a takedown and led 3-1 after the first three minutes, then recorded another takedown in the second period to build a 7-2 advantage.
After D'Agostino escaped midway through the third period, Bellis scored a pair of takedowns in the final 55 seconds, and added a riding-time point to prove the final margin.
Penn returns to action Saturday at the Throwdown on the Yorktown against Campbell University in its first dual match of the 2025-26 season.
