THE VALLEY — Winter sports practices began Friday in Pa. and will start today in New York, but there is still one team, and several Waverly swimmers still alive in the fall postseason.

There are just two events on this week's docket.

FRIDAY (2)
•  There are seven Waverly swimmers, led by senior Mira Kittle, competing in this weekend's New York State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center.

•  Tioga opens play in the New York State football playoffs, "hosting" Section III champion Lowville in the Class D quarterfinals at 5 p.m. at Vestal High School.

SATURDAY (1)
•  The finals of the New York State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center will begin at 10 a.m.
