STAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY OPENS SEASON WITH ROUT OF MASSENA AT B-VILLE TIP-OFF TOURNEY (November 28, 2025)
Valley Sports ReportBALDWINSVILLE — Junior Ryleigh Judson and senior Kaitlyn Sutton provided all the offense Waverly would need in the first quarter, and the Wolverine defense held Section X Massena without a field goal for the entire game in a 71-5 season-opening rout in the first round of the Bill Middleton Tip-Off Tournament here Friday afternoon in non-league girls basketball action.
Judson scored nine points, including a 3-pointer, and Sutton canned a pair of 3-pointers in an eight-point first quarter to help the Wolverines to a 25-1 lead after the opening eight minutes.
Junior Emma Richards-Randall added four points in the opening stanza, and senior Brilynn Belles was 3-for-3 from the line after being fouled while shooting a 3-pointer.
Sophomore Kendall Rockwell scored four points in the second quarter, and Belles knocked down a 3-pointer during a 9-2 spurt that upped the Wolverine advantage to 34-3 at the halftime break.
Judson scored six points in the third quarter, and Sutton added five points, including her third 3-pointer, to fuel a 19-1 run that extended the Waverly lead to 53-4 heading into the final eight minutes.
Waverly closed the game with an 18-1 run in the fourth quarter, with six different Wolverines finding the scoring column. Richards-Randall scored five points, Judson added four points, and sophomore Maci Wheeler canned a 3-pointer.
All nine of Waverly's players scored in the win.
Judson led Waverly with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, eight steals and one block, while Sutton had 13 points, five boards, four assists, and four steals, and Richards-Randall scored a career-high 11 points.
Rockwell had eight points and three rebounds in the win, while Belles had six points, four rebounds, four steals, and one blocked shot, and sophomore Kaylin Twedt added five points, seven rebounds, three assists, and six steals.
Sophomore Lauryn Welles chipped in with four points and three rebounds, while Wheeler added three assists and three steals, and junior Hannah Carpenter grabbed five rebounds.
Waverly will play Baldwinsville in the championship game Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
