NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: ATHENS DROPS 40-24 DECISION TO CENTRAL MARTINSBURG IN CONSOLATION GAME OF CENTRAL MOUNTAIN TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT (December 6, 2025)

MILL HALL, Pa. — Athens struggled from the field at the the halftime break, and Central Martinsburg used a 13-3 third-quarter run to blow open a tie game en route to a 40-24 win here Saturday in the consolation game of the Central Mountain Girls Basketball Tip-Off Tournament.

Sophomore Allie Kemp scored five points for the Wildcats in the first quarter, and sophomore Alissa Vough added a bucket as the two teams battled to a 7-7 deadlock through the first eight minutes.

The field goals by Kemp and Vough proved to be the only ones of the game for the Wildcats, who would scored all 17 of their points over the final three quarters from the free-throw line.

Athens, led by Kemp, who was 5-for-6 from the charity stripe, made 11 of 14 attempts from the line in the second quarter, and game went to the halftime locker room tied at 18-18.

In the third quarter, Athens was 3 of 4 from the stripe, and trailed 31-21 heading into the final eight minutes.

Central closed the game with a 9-3 spurt.

Kemp led Athens with 11 points and nine rebounds, while junior McKenna Jarvis added five points and six rebounds,Vough chipped in with four points, six boards and three steals, and senior Ava Hughes grabbed four boards.

Athens, now 0-3, returns to action Wednesday at Williamson.

JV: Athens dropped a 28-23 decision to Central Martinsburg in the opening round. Alexis May led the Wildcats with 10 points.

In the consolation game, Alexis Mayo and Stella Unger scored nine points apiece to lead Athens to a 32-25 win over Brookville.
