THE WEEK AHEAD: A HOST OF VALLEY TEAMS OPEN PLAY IN 2025-26 (December 7, 2025)

THE VALLEY — With the fall season now completely in the rear-view mirror, a host of Valley teams open the 2025-26 winter seasons this week.

There are 28 events on the docket this week, including seven on Friday and six on Tuesday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (4)
•  Athens opens the boys basketball season at home against Williamson.

•  Waverly hosts Chenango Valley in its first home game of the girls basketball season.

•  Waverly opens the 2025-26 bowling season at home against Windsor.

TUESDAY (6)
•  Waverly hosts its first wrestling dual of 2025-26 against a young Owego team.

•  Athens hosts its first swim dual of the season, with Tunkhannock visiting the pool. 

WEDNESDAY (3)
•  The Sayre girls host their first basketball game of the season against Towanda.

THURSDAY (3)
•  The Tioga bowling teams host Union Springs / Port Byron at the Valley Bowling Center.

FRIDAY (7)
•  The Tioga boys open the 2025-26 season at home against S-VE.

•  Athens hosts NTL rival Wyalusing in a league wrestling dual.

•  The Tioga bowling teams host Thomas A. Edison at the Valley Bowling Center.

SATURDAY (5)
•  Sayre hosts Blue Ridge in an afternoon boys non-league hoop game.
