STAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: AFTER FAST START, WAVERLY STRUGGLES IN 43-39 LOSS AT CHENANGO VALLEY (December 11, 2025)
Valley Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Waverly scored the first 11 points of the game, but struggled from the field over the final three quarters in a 43-39 setback against Chenango Valley here Monday evening in STAC Central Division junior varsity boys basketball action.
The Wolverines led 11-0, but the Warriors closed the quarter with a 14-3 run to tie the game at 14-14 after the first eight minutes.
Brody Lambert scored seven points, including a 3-pointer, and Brycen Fiske added five points, including a trey in the first quarter for Waverly.
The second quarter featured ice-cold shooting for both teams. Drew Croft's 3-pointer provided Waverly's only points as CV used a 6-3 spurt to take a 20-17 lead at the half.
The Warriors extended its lead to 35-29 heading into the final eight minutes with a 15-10 run in the third quarter.
Waverly trailed by 10 with two minutes remaining, but cut the lead to four with 20 seconds remaining, but missed on a chance to make it a one-possession game.
Lambert led Waverly with 18 points, three rebounds, three assists, and six steals, while Fiske had seven points and three rebounds, and Axel Murray had seven points and three blocked shots
Croft added six points on a pair of 3-pointers, and six boards for the Wolverines, and Ian Johnston chipped in with four rebounds, three steals, and one blocked shot.
Waverly, now 1-1, travels to Seton Catholic Saturday afternoon.
