H.S. GIRLS WRESTLING: NO CHAMPS, BUT A TEAM TITLE FOR TIOGA AT U-E TRADESMAN TOURNAMENT (24 PHOTOS) (December 12, 2025)

ENDICOTT — Junior Amelia Toomey, sophomore Cora Szymanski, and freshman Taylor Sindoni were runners-up, and six of their teammates also reached the podium to lead the Tigers to a team title here Friday at the U-E Girls Tradesman Tournament.

Junior Marcy Moniz and senior Sophia Haney were third-place finishers for the Tigers, while sophomore Vida Rossi placed fourth, senior RaeAnne Feeko placed fifth, and senior Mia Hall and sophomore Kyah Nelson were sixth-place finishers.

Tioga won the team title with 135.5 points, edging out runner-up Elmira, which tallied 134 points. Chenango Forks finished third with 127 points, while U-E was fourth with 127, and Owego Free Academy was fifth with 115. Newark Valley finished ninth with 81.5 points, and SVEC was 10th with 61.5 points.

Toomey rolled into the 145-pound title with four 10-0 technical falls in times of 61, 88, 73 and 76 seconds.

In the finals, Toomey led Oneonta's Payton Little, 6-1, when Little turned a takedown into a fall at 2:48.

Szymanski also won four matches — all by fall — to reach the 138-pound finals. Her first two falls were in the first period, and her next two were in the second period.

In the finals, CHenango Forks standout Tori Reh pinned Szymanski in the first period.

Sindoni scored three first-period falls on her way to the 114-pound title match. She led Elmira's Josalyn Irvin, 11-0, in the semifinals when scored a fall at the first-period horn.

In the finals, Sindoni lost by fall to Walton's Gwynavere Northrup.

Moniz scored a pair of quick falls to reach the semifinals, before finishing third in the 152-pound bracket.

Moniz opened with pins in 88 and 50 seconds, then led Newark Valley's Isabella King, 3-0, when King turned a takedown into a fall at 1:16.

In the third-place match, Moniz pinned Edison's Sydney Gibbs in 1:15.

Haney was 4-1 on the day to finish third in the 132-pound bracket.

Haney registered falls in 51, 15, and 64 seconds to reach the semifinals, where she led Harpursville-BGA-CV's Lola Pritchard, 6-4, when she scored a four-point move and turned it into a fall at 2:26.

Haney bounced back in the third-place match with a 10-0 technical fall over Newark Valley's Billeigh Dawson in 1:50.

Rossi won her first three matches to reach the semis in the 120-pound bracket before settling for fourth place.

Rossi scored three first-period falls, but lost via fall to SVEC's Taylor Zufall in the semifinals. Rossi also lost via fall to Owego Free Academy's Michaela Daly in the third-place match.

Feeko won by fall in the opening round, but lost via technical fall in the quarterfinals. She bounced back with a 44-second fall over Jae Rivera of Oneonta in wrestlebacks.

Feeko then lost in the consolation semifinals, but bounced back with a pin of SVEC's Madalyn James in the fifth-place match.

Hall finished 2-2 to place sixth in the 114-pound bracket.

Hall scored a pin of Aubrey Frank of Harpursville-BGA-CV in the opening round, then lost  via technical fall in her next match.

Hall received a medical forfeit in her next match, then lost via fall in the fifth-place match.

Nelson was locked in a 12-12 battle with Binghamton-Seton Catholic's Kyra Bryant when Bryant scored a fall.

Nelson was forced to medical default the remainder of the tournament to place sixth at 185 pounds.

Junior Sadie Marshall was 2-2 in the 114-pound bracket, scoring a pair of falls, including one in 26 seconds.

Tioga returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Chenango Forks in a dual.
