THE VALLEY — The winter season has its busiest week of the season with wrestling duals and basketball dominating the schedule. 

There are 34 events on the docket this week, including nine Saturday and eight Friday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (1)
•  Waverly hosts STAC Central Division rival Chenango Valley on the hardwoods at the Valley Bowling Center.

TUESDAY (6)
•  Waverly plays its home boys basketball opener against Susquehanna Valley.

•  The Athens boys host North Penn-Liberty on the hoop hardwoods.

•  Tioga hosts IAC South Small School basketball rival O-M. 

•  The Sayre boys hosts NTL Large School foe Wellsboro on the basketball hardwoods.

WEDNESDAY (6)
•  Waverly hosts Owego in its first home wrestling dual of the season.

•  The Athens girls take on Small School foe Cowanesque Valley on the basketball hardwoods.

•  The Sayre girls host Wyalusing in an NTL basketball contest.

•  The Waverly boys swim team hosts Norwich.

THURSDAY (4)
•  Tioga opens its home wrestling duals season Thursday against Trumansburg.

•  The Athens swim teams host Towanda and Wellsboro in a tri-meet.

FRIDAY (8)
•  Waverly wrestling hosts Vestal and Newark Valley in a tri-match.

•  The Sayre girls host Williamson in their second home basketball game of the week.

•  The Tioga girls host Newfield in a divisional basketball game.

SATURDAY (9)
•  Waverly hosts STAC rival Windsor in a girls basketball battle.

•  The Waverly boys host Athens in the finale of a busy day at Waverly H.S.
