NTL SWIMMING: ATHENS BOYS, GIRLS SWEEP TOWANDA, WELLSBORO (December 18, 2025)

Valley Sports Report
ATHENS — Juniors Brayden Pettitt, Eli Hicks and Dominic Musick won four events apiece to lead the Athens boys to wins over Towanda and Wellsboro, while seniors Olivia Thompson and Evelyn Panek were quad-winner to pace the Lady Wildcats to a pair of wins in NTL swimming action here Thursday afternoon.

BOYS
Athens 100, Wellsboro 40

The Wildcats earned two wins in their first duals of the season.

Junior Jacob Shores was a triple-winner for Athens, and senior Ty Lezak and junior Matt Rossettie were double-winners.

Pettitt won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:01.71, and Shores was second in 2:28.51.

Pettitt led a sweep of the top three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in with a time of 1:01.37, while Lezak was second in 1:12.08, and freshman Shayan Ankam was third in 1:20.31.

Hicks won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.85 seconds, and Rossettie was second in 59.76 seconds. Hicks also won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.77 seconds.

Musick won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.57, and sophomore Alex Sledge was third in 1:34.28. Musick won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.39.

Shores won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:02.37

Pettitt and Hicks teamed with Shores and Rossettie to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:45.08.

Pettitt, Lezak, Musick, and Shores teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:48.48.

Hicks and Musick teamed with Lezak and Rossettie to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:41.93.

Rossettie finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:19.10.

GIRLS
Athens 80, Wellsboro 45
Athens 92, Towanda 8

The Lady Wildcats earned wins over Wellsboro and Towanda in their first duals of the season.

Junior Kaitlyn Leonard was a triple-winner, and senior Elizabeth Denlinger were double-winners for Athens.

Panek won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.82 seconds, and freshman Peighton Henry was third in 35.04 seconds.

Thompson won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:11.90, and Denlinger was second in 1:12.01.

Thompson, Panek, Denlinger and Leonard teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:05.23. The same foursome won the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:09.94.

Thompson, Panek and Leonard teamed with senior Madeline Henderson to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:53.25.

Senior Kayla Marshall won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:06.98, and junior Alana Reyes was third in 1:12.25.

Senior Penelope Grubb won the 1-meter diving competition with a six-dive score of 150.05 points.

Denlinger finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:11.89.

Henderson finished second in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:50.29. She was also second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:28.63.

Leonard finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:22.83.

Athens returns to action Saturday at the Bucknell Invitational.
