IAC WRESTLING: DUNCANSON TIOGA'S LONE CHAMP AT BLIZZARD BRAWL; EIGHT MORE TIGERS PLACE IN TOP THREE (December 20, 2025)
Valley Sports ReportSALAMANCA — Senior Jayden Duncanson won Tioga's lone pool title, but four of his teammates earned runner-up finishes at The Blizzard Brawl here Saturday at the Seneca-Allegany Community Center.
Seniors Logan Bellis, juniors Declan McKee and Caden Bradley, and sophomore Mark McCain were runners-up, while seniors Kadin Cole, Brayden MacWhinnie, and Aiden Black, and junior Bailey Rugh each placed third, and sophomore Drayke Ulrich placed fourth.
Duncanson made quick work of his competitors in the 144-pound pool. In round one, he pinned Dominic Harvey of Pioneer in 1:14.
In the second round, Duncanson decked Jacob Herbst of Orchard Park in 55 seconds.
Duncanson faced St. Francis' Kole Haseley, who was also 2-0 with a pin and a 15-0 technical fall, and forged a 15-0 technical fall.
Bellis was 3-1 to finish second in the 126-pound pool.
Bellis opened with a 15-0 technical fall win over Orchard Park's Jason Facer, then pinned Ithaca's Cyrus Harper in 1:43.
Bellis ran his mark to 3-0 in Pool B with a pin of Rocco Batt of St. Francis in 1:23, but came up short against Pool A champ, St. Francis ace Brayden Kellison-Neglia, in a 4-1 decision.
McKee, a reigning N.Y. State Division II champion, was 3-1 to finish second in the 118-pound pool.
McKee decked Cam Weipert of St. Francis in 37 seconds, then won a wild 13-10 decision over Ali Hamideh of St. Francis.
In the third round, McKee decked Orchard Park's Aiden Rodriguez in 2:28 to finish 3-0 in Pool A, and set up a match against Pool B Tanner Catrabone of St. Francis, who was a Division I state runner-up last year.
Catrabone, who won with a quick pin and a 17-1 technical fall in his pool play bouts, topped McKee, 8-1.
Bradley, who wrestled at Waverly last year, was 2-1 to finish second in the 150-pound pool.
He opened with an 8-3 win over Joe Colantino of St. Francis, then dropped an 8-0 decision to eventual pool champ Max McCarthy of St. Francis in his second match.
Bradley claimed second place with a 6-1 win over Brandon Weipert of St. Francis.
Cole, who missed last year's postseason with an elbow injury after finishing third at States as a sophomore, opened with a 43-second pin of Tioga teammate, freshman Liamm Comstock.
Cole followed it p with a 15-0 technical fall win over Ray Spain of Holland-Patent, but dropped a 20-5 technical fall to Kellison-Negila in his final Pool A bout.
In the third-place match, Cole pinned Rocco Bat of St. Francis in 3:14.
MacWhinnie was 3-2 on the day to finish third in the 138-pound pool.
He opened with a 52-second fall against Orchard Park's Alex Walker, then lost consecutive matches — a 14-5 major decision to eventual runner-up Zak Massaro of St. Francis, and a 20-4 technical fall to eventual champ Cullen Edwards of St. Francis.
MacWhinnie bounced back with a 66-second fall against Jake Gocella of Orchard Park, and a pin of Holland-Patent's Dylan Bailey in 1:39.
Black, who wrestled JV last year after transferring in from Sayre, was 1-2 to finish third in a stacked 165-pound weight class.
Black lost via first-period falls to Holland-Patent's Cooper Doxstader, and All-American and reigning N.Y. State champ Griffin LaPlante, whose father wrestled at Tioga.
Black finished up pool play with a 20-4 technical fall of Ithaca's Bram Carruthers.
McCane was 4-1 to finish second in the 285-pound pool. He opened up pool play with a pin of teammate, junior Bailey Rugh, in 1:59, then pinned Orchard Park's Grayson Meyers in 3:34.
After receiving a forfeit from Sweet Home's Joe Burns, McKane pinned Ithaca's Harris Germain in 2:59 to run his record to 4-0 and set up a match with returning state place-winner Willy Workoetter of St. Francis.
Workoetter claimed third with a second-period pin.
Rugh was 3-2 to finish third in the 285-pound pool. Rugh's losses were to Workoetter and McCane.
Rugh scored a pin of Burns in 2:43, then forged a 21-5 technical fall of Germain, and pin of Meyers in 2:20.
Ulrich was 3-3 to place fourth in the 103-pound pool.
Ulrich opened with an 11-0 major decision over Orchard Park's Nicolaus Schaller, then pinned teammate, freshman Harold Corby, in 3:27.
After a technical fall loss to eventual champ Michael Ferullo of Orchard Park, Ulrich bounced back with a pin of Orchard Park's Brayden Hluska in 3:21.
Ulrich then dropped a 14-7 decision to eventual runner-up Jaxson Tocco of St. Francis, and was pinned at the second-period horn by third-place finisher Owen Bliss of Pioneer.
Corby went 1-5 in the 103-pound pool. His lone win was a 46-second pin of Hluska.
Eighth-grader Cason LaBour was 2-4 to finish sixth in the 190-pound pool. LaBour's wins were pins of Orchard Park's Hayden Fox in 4:34, and teammate, sophomore Jamie Woodcock, in 2:46.
Freshman Parker Jackson was 0-3 in the 118-pound pool, while Comstock was 0-4 in the 126-pound pool, junior James Howey was 0-3 in the 215-pound pool, and Woodcock was 0-6 in the 190-pound pool.
