WINDSOR — Senior Cooper Robinson and Troy Beeman, and junior Matthias Welles each went 2-0 Monday to advance to the semifinals of the annual Windsor Christmas Wrestling Tournament, and three of their teammates are still alive in the consolation bracket, and one win away from the podium.

The Wolverines finished Day 1 in fifth place in the team standings with 75 points, with Poquoson (Virginia) leading the 38-team field with 110 points. Minisink Valley is second with 105.5 points, while Manhasset is third with 90.5 points, Tioga is fourth with 86.5 points, and Marcellus-Onondaga is sixth with 74 points.

Freshman Avery Bowman, junior Rhylee Stotler, and senior Daltton Davis will start Tuesday action in the blood round of the consolation bracket. 

Robinson was 2-0 in the 157-pound bracket, scoring a technical fall and a pin fall.

In the round-of-16, Robinson scored a 15-0 technical fall over Manhasset's Luke Armendariz in 2:40, then followed it up with a pin of Gouverneur's J.D. Mincer in 2:27.

Robinson, the fourth seed, will face top-seeded Jacob McVige of Honeoye Falls-Lima in the semifinals.

Welles was 2-0 in the 215-pound bracket. He opened with a pin of Deposit-Hancock's Patrick Esolen in 2:41.

In the quarterfinals, Welles forged a 10-2 major decision over Manhasset's Anthony Glass.

Welles, the third seed, will face second-seeded Zach Filip of Minisink Valley in the semifinals.

Beeman, the top seed at 285 pounds, was 2-0 to advance to the semifinals.

Beeman opened with a 2-0 decision over Towanda's Dom Miller, then pinned Manhasset's Marcus Davis in 2:31 in the quarterfinals.

Beeman will face fourth-seeded Shaheed Mitchell of Minisink Valley in the semifinals.

Bowman, the third seed, was 2-1 in the 118-pound bracket, opening with a pin of Saratoga's Carter Schonheinz in 1:48.

In the quarterfinals, Bowman fell behind 7-0 in the opening minute against sixth-seeded Logan Bellis of Tioga, and dropped a 7-2 decision.

He bounced back in his first wrestleback match with a pin of Sherburne-Earlville's Andrew LaFrance in 33 seconds.

Stotler, the fourth seed at 126 pounds, was 2-1 on the day.

He opened with an 18-1 technical fall win over Fairport's John Turcsik in 3:04, then lost via a 23-8 technical fall in 5:41 to fifth-seeded Lucas Hoffman of Schuyler.

Stotler rebounded in wrestlebacks with a pin of South Jefferson's Tanner Garrett in 57 seconds.

Davis, the ninth seed at 138 pounds was 3-1 on the day.

Davis opened with a 19-3 technical fall win over Jason Luce of Blue Ridge, then pinned eighth-seeded Daniel Jones of Burnt Hill at 4:33 to erase a 4-1 deficit.

In the quarterfinals, Davis succumbed via technical fall to top-seeded Landyn Shaffer of Deposit-Hancock.

Davis bounced back in his first consolation bracket match with a 10-7 win over Horseheads' Kole Zufall.

Junior Joey Mack was 2-2 in the 165-pound bracket. 

After losing via second-period fall to Manhasset's Henry Jervis in the opening round, Mack bounced back with a 16-0 technical fall in 4:25 over Towanda's Dillon Sbragia, then scored a 17-2 technical fall over Poquoson's Nathan Villasenor in 3:42.

Mack was eliminated via second-period fall by South Jefferson's Jon Paradis.

Junior Parker Larson was 1-2 in the 150-pound bracket, winning his opening-round match with a 14-8 decision over Lowville's Duncan Andrews.

Seventh-grader Mason Phillips was 1-2 on the day in the 110-pound bracket, winning his opening-round match with a 13-1 major decision over Blue Ridge's Dante Tanzini.

Seventh-grader Triton Floyd was 0-2 at 103 pounds, senior Nico Rae was 0-2 at 144 pounds, and freshman Brooks Lahtrop was 0-2 at 190 pounds.

Day 2 action begins at 10 a.m.
