NTL SWIMMING: PETTITT BREAKS TWO MEET RECORD TO PACE STRONG ATHENS SHOWING AT 'KEEP THE BEAT INVITE' (January 2, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportDIMOCK, Pa. — Junior Brayden Pettitt won four events, and set a pair of new meet records to lead the Athens swim teams in a strong showing here Friday at the Keep the Beat Invitational at Elk Lake High School.
Pettitt set new meet records in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard individual medley, while the Lady Wildcat 200-yard freestyle relay foursome of seniors Olivia Thompson, Evelyn Panek and Elizabeth Denlinger and junior Kaitlyn Leonard also set a new meet record.
Panek eclipsed the former meet record in the 50-yard freestyle, but finished second by 0.01 seconds
BOYSPettitt won the 100-yard breaststroke in a meet-record time of 1:00.53, while senior Ty Lezak was fourth in 1:13.1, and freshman Shayan Ankam was sixth in 1:17.42.
Pettitt also won the 100-yard IM in a meet-record time of 55.4 seconds
Pettitt was a winner in the 200-yard IM, clocking in with a time of 2:00.98, and junior Dominic Musick was seventh in 2:21.53.
Pettitt and Musick teamed with juniors Eli Hicks and Matthew Rossettie to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:36.13.
Musick finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.37.
Hicks placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.83 seconds, Lezak was eighth in 57.34 seconds, junior Austin Quattrini was 11th in 1:01.2, and Ankam was 12th in 1:01.75.
Junior Jacob Shores, Quattrini, Rossettie and Ankam teamed to place second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:01.33.
Pettit, Lezak, Musick, and Hicks teamed to place third in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:47.4.
Hicks placed third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.88 seconds, while Shores was fifth in 24.91 seconds, Lezak was sixth in 25.14 seconds, Ankam was 10th in 26.33 seconds, and Rossettie was 12th in 26.88 seconds.
Shores place fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:06.31, and Rossettie was ninth in 2:19.81.
Shores also placed fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:57.71, and Quattrini was fifth in 6:16.29
GIRLSSeniors Olivia Thompson and Evelyn Panek were double-winners, and Panek also had two second-place finishes to lead the Lady Wildcats at Keep the Beat Invite.
Thompson won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:07.14, and junior Kaitlyn Leonard was fourth in 1:14.11.
Thompson, Panek, Leonard, and senior Elizabeth Denlinger won the 200-yard freestyle really in a meet-record time of 1:47.74.
Panek teamed with seniors Kayla Marshall and Madeline Henderson, and sophomore Brooke Lyon to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:18.73.
Panek finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.16 seconds, while Thomson was third in 26.69 seconds, Denlinger was fifth in 26.96 seconds, Leonard was eighth in 28.34 seconds, Lyon was 10th in 29.29 seconds, and Marshall was 12th in 29.63 seconds.
Panek placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.84 seconds, while Thompson was third in 59.31 seconds, Denlinger was fourth in 1:00.69, Leonard was sixth in 1:03.45, Henderson was eighth in 1:05.49, Marshall was 10th in 1:06.21, and Lyon was 11th in 1:07.68.
Denlinger placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:10.97
Henderson placed third in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:42.76. She was also fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:25.09
Athens will host Danville and Towanda Thursday, and have added Lewisburg to the schedule at home on Jan. 10.
