STAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: TROY PULLS AWAY IN 65-34 WIN OVER WAVERLY (22 PHOTOS) (January 3, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — After a strong first quarter, Waverly struggled and Troy pulled away for a 65-34 win here Saturday afternoon in non-league girls basketball action.
Junior Ryleigh Judson scored eight points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line, and sophomore Maci Wheeler added a 3-pointer to help the Wolverines to a 15-13 lead after the first eight minutes.
Waverly made 11 of 12 free throws in the first quarter.
Judson scored five points, including a 3-pointer, in the second quarter but those were Waverly's only points, and the Trojans used a 17-5 run to take a 30-20 lead into the halftime locker room.
Judson scored six more points in the third quarter, but Troy used a 21-11 advantage to extend its lead to 51-31 entering the final eight minutes.
A Judson 3-pointer was Waverly's only score of the fourth quarter as Troy closed the game with a 14-3 blitz.
Judson led the Wolverines with 21 points, including a pair of 3-pointers and a 7-for-7 effort from the free-throw line, while junior Makenzie Olmsted added five points and Wheeler chipped in with four.
Kyah Renzo led all scorers with 24 points, while Haidyn Watson scored 11 points, and Raelyn Woodward added 10.
Waverly, now 6-5, returns to action Wednesday at Chenango Valley.
