CURWENSVILLE, Pa. — Senior Hannah Rathbun won her fourth tournament title of the season and remains unbeaten. She led eight Wildcats to the podium in a second-place team finish here Saturday at the rugged Curwensville Tournament.

Athens had four third-place finishers in senior Leah Nason, juniors Abby Wagner and Joyce Clink, and freshman Evelyn Cummings, while three Wildcats — freshman Skylynn Payne and Chelsey Renninger, and sophomore Alyssa Rinebold — placed fifth.

Hughesville won the team title with 171 points, while Athens tallied 150.5 points, Boiling Springs was third with 135.5 points, and Clearfield was fourth with 121.5 points. 

Rathbun went 5-0 on the day, winning in the finals with a second-period fall — her first match of the season to make it past the first two minutes.

Rathbun scored a fall in 23 seconds over Chestnut Ridge's Hailey Snowden in the round-of-32, then pinned DuBois' Keira Herman in 1:38, and Warrior Run's Nakita Nelson in 37 seconds in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Rathbun pinned Huntingdon's Noelle Rasmovicz in 1:23.

She finished off her run to the 136-pound title with a pin fall of Phillipsburg-Osceola's Charlotte Hunt in 2:42.

Nason was 3-1 on the day to finish second in the 235-pound bracket.

After a pin of Hughesville's Emma Post in 63 seconds in the round-of-16, Nason decked Curwensville's Emily Neeper in 1:01.

Nason then pinned her teammate, Cummings, in 4:06 in the semifinals, but lost via first-period pin in the finals to Bedford's Mylah Steinbuch.

Joyce Clink was 4-1 on the day to finish third in the 124-pound bracket.

Clink opened with back-to-back falls in 26 seconds, first decking Warrior Run's Kylee Madigan, then pinning Brockway's Hayden Shick.

In the quarterfinals, Clink pinned Hailey Thumma of Boiling Springs in 1:25.

After a 6-0 loss to Franklin's Ella Kasunic, Clink decked Clearfield's Finley Gilbert in 2:43 in the third-place match.

Abigail Wagner was 2-1 to finish third in the 170-pound bracket.

Wagner opened with a pin of Clearfield's Allison Neeper in 43 seconds in the quarterfinals, but lost via major decision to Brockway's Elisabeth Meyers in the semifinals.

Wagner bounced back in the third-place match, scoring a fall of Clearfield's Aylee Johnston in 51 seconds.

Freshman Evelyn Cummings was 3-1 on the day to finish third in the 235-pound bracket, with her only loss coming to teammate, senior Leah Nason.

Cummings opened with a 41-second fall over Brockway's Adrian Inzana, then scored a 5-1 decision over Emily Dolan of Boiling Springs in the quarterfinals.

Cummings trailed Nason 1-0 in the third period of their semi-final match, when Nason turned her for the fall.

Cummings bounced back in the third-place match, pinning Phillipsburg-Osceola's Daisy Glessner at 4:49 to erase a 2-1 deficit.

Payne was 4-1 on the day to finish fifth in the 190-pound bracket.

Payne opened with a pin of Franklin's Isabell Davensizer in 39 seconds, but lost via technical fall — her first loss of the season — to Pre Irvin of Boiling Springs.

Payne rebounded with three straight wins, starting the run with an 11-second pin of Warrior Run's Makayla Nobles and a 55-second pin of Erie McDowell's Isela Cotto in the consolation semifinals.

In the third-place match, Payne forged a 16-0 technical fall win in 2:58 over Erie's DeOnna Chatfield.

Sophomore Alyssa Rinebold was 4-1 to place fifth in the 106-pound bracket.

Rinebold opened with a 47-second pin of State College's Kaitlyn McShea, but lost via major decision in the quarterfinals

Rinebold bounced back with three straight wins in the consolation bracket. She pinned Hughesville's Arianna Lewis in 1:50 in the consolation quarterfinals, then decked Bald Eagle Area's Lily Spicer in 2:00 to erase a 7-3 deficit.

In the fifth-place match, Rinebold scored a seven-point move late in the second period and held off for a 7-4 win over Sophia White of Boiling Springs.

Freshman Chelsey Renninger also went 4-1 on the day to finish fifth in the 136-pound bracket.

Renninger built a 16-4 lead before finishing off a falloff Boling Springs' Lily Haus in 5:15, then lost via fall to Huntingdon's Noelle Rasmovicz in the quarterfinals.

Renninger registered pins of Pine Bush's Dixie Schauer in 4:19 and Warrior Run's Nakita Nelson in 2:14 to advance to the third-place match, where she scored a 15-0 technical fall in 3:20 over Hughesville's Madoka Charles.

Sophomore Memphis Paul was 3-2 on the day in the 142-pound bracket.

Paul opened with ins of Franklin's Kayanna White in 32 seconds and Central Mountain's Alana Rhodes in 2:28 before losing to Curwensville's Brylee London via fall in the quarterfinals.

Paul bounced back with a pin of Punxatawney's Adalyn Schaeffer in 1:35 in her first wrestleback match, but dropped a 3-1 decision to Pine Grove's Brynn Bosack in the first consolation round-of-4.

Hailey Brinkley was 3-2 on the day in the 100-pound bracket.

Brinkley lost her first match in the round-of-32, but rebounded with a 9-2 win over Bradford's Harmony Schneider, and a pin of Bedford's Gonna VanPelt in 3:43.

After winning by injury default in the consolation round-of-8, Brinkley lost via third-period fall on round shy of the podium.

Abigail Ahern was 1-2 in the 142-pound bracket, with her lone win a pin of Altoona's Emily Rickabaugh in 2:34 in her first wrestleback match.

Mya Burke was 1-2 in the 112-pound bracket, winning via fall over Curwensville's Kenlee Witherite in 2:02 in the first round of wrestlebacks.

Charlotte Rosh was 0-2 at 155 pounds, while Isabella Henry was 0-2 at 130 pounds, and Kaylynn Kletz was 0-2 in the 130-pound bracket.

Athens returns to action Wednesday in a double-dual against Hughesville and Selinsgrove at Selinsgrove.

Elizabeth Brown was 2-1 — pins in 49 and 29 seconds, to finish third in the 138-pound bracket in the junior high tournament.
