THE WEEK AHEAD: BUSY WEEK CAPPED BY FOURTH ANNUAL SOUTHERN TIER MEMORIAL (January 4, 2025)

THE VALLEY — The first week of 2026 features one of the busiest weeks of the winter season, and will be capped by the fourth annual Southern Tier Memorial Wrestling Tournaments.

There are 39 events on this week's docket, including 10 on Friday and nine on Tuesday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (2)
•  The Sayre boys are on the road at Sullivan County for a non-league tilt.

TUESDAY (9)
•  Athens hosts Canton in a key NTL wrestling dual.

•  Sayre hosts Cowanesque Valley in an NTL Small School boys hoop contest.

•  Tioga hosts Groton in an IAC Small School crossover boys hoop contest.

•  Waverly hosts Chenango Valley in a STAC boys basketball contest.

WEDNESDAY (7)
•  Tioga hosts Newark Valley in a key IAC wrestling dual.

•  Athens hosts NP-Mansfield in an NTL Large School girls hoop contest.

•  Waverly hosts Tioga and Elmira for a girls wrestling double dual.

•  Waverly hosts Owego in a key STAC bowling match.

THURSDAY (5)
•  Athens hosts Troy in a key NTL Large School boys hoop contest.

•  Athens hosts Towanda and Danville in a double-dual in the pool.

•  The Sayre boys host Small School-leader NEB on the hardwoods. 

•  Tioga hosts Newark Valley in an IAC bowling match at the Valley Bowling Center.

FRIDAY (10)
•  Sayre, Tioga and Waverly wrestlers are in action at the fourth annual Southern Tier Memorial at the Elmira Area.

•  Waverly hosts divisional rival Chenango Forks on the boys hoop hardwoods.

•  The Tioga girls host Moravia in an IAC Small School hoop crossover contest.

•  Waverly hosts Chenango Forks in the pool for a STAC dual.

SATURDAY (6)
•  Sayre, Tioga and Waverly wrestlers are in action at Day 2 of the fourth annual Southern Tier Memorial at the Elmira Area.

•  The Waverly girls host Chenango Forks in a matinee basketball game.

•  Athens hosts powerhouse Lewisburg in non-league swimming action.

•  Waverly hosts the Wolverines Boys Swimming & Diving Invite.
