WAVERLY'S VANDERHOOF, ATHENS' RATHBUN NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"Vanderhoof went 5-0 to claim the 126-pound title at the Frosty Freestyle Festival.
Vanderhoof, the 2-seed, decked Canandaigua Academy's Piper Jones in 17 seconds in the opening round, then scored a 16-6 technical fall of Chatauqua Lake's Aurora Maring in 3:35.
In the quarterfinals, Vanderhoof built a 10-4 lead before pinning Niagara-Wheatfield's Cali Ponzi in 1:54 to advance to the semifinals, while she led Fulton's Isabella Salotto, 12-10, before scoring a fall at 1:56.
In the finals, Vanderhoof scored an 11-0 technical fall win over Niagara-Wheatfield's Jewel Allen in 1:36.
Rathbun went 5-0, including the 100th win of her career, to capture the 136-pound title at the rugged Curwensville Tournament.
Rathbun, now 18-0, scored a fall in 23 seconds over Chestnut Ridge's Hailey Snowden in the round-of-32, then pinned DuBois' Keira Herman in 1:38, and Warrior Run's Nakita Nelson in 37 seconds in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, Rathbun pinned Huntingdon's Noelle Rasmovicz in 1:23. She finished off her run with a pin of Phillipsburg-Osceola's Charlotte Hunt in 2:42 — her first match this season to reach the second period.

TIOGA'S McKEE, WAVERLY'S SHAW NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"McKee went 4-0 to capture the 110-pound title at the annual Windsor Christmas Tournament.
After pins of 61 and 66 seconds on Day 1, McKee forged a 16-3 major decision over Brendan Stoutenburg in the semifinals.
In the finals, McKee scored a 6-1 win over Southwestern's Adrian Torres in a rematch of last year's state finals.
Shaw averaged 22.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.5 steal per game, and canned 14 3-pointers in four games.
Shaw led Waverly with 21 points, including four 3-pointers, five rebounds and three assists in 48-46 loss to Windsor
Shaw pumped in 29 points and four 3-pointers — all in the final three quarters — and grabbed six rebounds in a 65-57 win over Notre Dame. He led Waverly with 11 points and three rebounds in a 79-50 loss to Corning in the finals of the Palmer Tournament.
Shaw led Waverly with 28 points, including five 3-pointers, three rebounds, two steals and two assists in a 68-64 win over Troy.
