STAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY RIDES HOT START TO 83-26 WIN OVER TROY (January 5, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Waverly raced out to an early 20-point lead, and cruised to an 83-26 win over Troy here Saturday afternoon in non-league junior varsity boys basketball action.
Axel Murray canned a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 points in the first quarter, while Maddex Presher scored seven points, Brody Lambert added six points, and Brycen Fiske drained a 3-pointer to fuel a game-opening, 31-10, run.
Drew Croft drilled a pair of 3-pointer and scored eight points in the second quarter, while Murray added a pair of buckets, and Fiske knocked down a trey in a 17-2 blitz that pushed the lead to 48-12 at the half.
Croft scored 10 points in the second half, while Cooper Skovira and Cole Hunt, who drained a pair of 3-pointers, as Waverly extended its lead in the third and fourth quarters.
Murray had 18 points, eight rebounds, five blocked shots and four assists and three steals, and Croft had 18 points, four rebounds and five steals to lead the Wolverines, while Fiske scored 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
Presher had nine points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the win, while Skovira had seven points and four boards, and Lambert had six points, three assists, and three steals.
Ian Johnston had six points, three rebounds, and two assists for the Wolverines, and Hunt had six points.
Waverly, now 5-2, hosts Chenango Valley Tuesday.
