IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: GROTON RIDES QUICK START TO 45-25 WIN OVER TIOGA (January 6, 2026)

GROTON — Groton raced out to a quick double-digit lead on its way to a 45-25 win over Tioga here Tuesday evening in IAC Small School girls basketball crossover action.

The Red Hawks took control early with a 17-2 first-quarter blitz. 

They extended their lead to 28-10 at the half, and 41-18 heading into the fourth quarter.

Lydiah Decker led Tioga with 12 points, and Kaylah Nelson had five points, two rebounds and two steals.

Kate Kithcart had four points, two rebounds, and three steals for the Tigers, and Irie Lynch had four points, two rebounds and two steals.

Tioga returns to action Friday when it hosts Moravia.
