NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: WILLIAMSPORT TOPS ATHENS, 35-28 (January 6, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWILLIAMSPORT — After being shut down in the first half by Athens' stingy defense, Williamsport turned the tables in the second half and rallied for a 35-28 win here Tuesday night in non-league girls basketball action.
The Millionaires led 8-5 after the opening stanza, but junior McKenna Jarvis, who had an old-fashioned three-point play and knocked down a 3-pointer, scored 10 points in the second quarter to fuel a 10-4 run that put the Wildcats ahead 15-12 at the half.
Williamsport used a 10-6 third-quarter spurt to take a 22-21 lead into the final eight minutes, then outscored the Wildcats, 13-7, in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Jarvis made 8 of 10 free-throw attempts, but the Wildcats were just 12 of 24 as a team.
Jarvis led Athens with 20 points, eight rebounds and eight steals, while sophomore Ally Kemp added five points and three steals, and sophomore Alissa Vough hauled down eight rebounds.
Athens, now 4-5, returns to action Wednesday when it hosts North Penn-Mansfield.
