NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY ROLLS OVER SAYRE, 49-12 (January 7, 2026)

WESTFIELD — Sayre struggled to score throughout, and Cowanesque Valley pulled away in a 49-12 win here Wednesday night in NTL Small School girls basketball action.

Senior Olivia Thompson's first-quarter bucket was Sayre's lone field goal in the first half as CV built a 12-4 lead after the first eight minutes, then used a 16-1 blitz in the second quarter to take a 28-5 lead into the halftime break.

CV added to its lead in the third quarter with a 15-5 run, and in the fourth with an 8-2 spurt.

Senior Rylee Lantz had four points, seven rebounds and one blocked shot, while Thompson had four points, six boards and five steals, and sophomore McKenna Parrish added two steals and two blocked shots.

Sayre returns to action Friday at NEB.
