NTL SWIMMING: ATHENS GIRLS, BOYS POST WINS OVER TOWANDA (January 8, 2026)

ATHENS — The Athens girls and boys, thanks to five quad-winners, posted big wins over Towanda here Thursday afternoon in NTL swimming action.

GIRLS
Athens 115, Towanda 6

Seniors Evelyn Panek, Olivia Thompson, and Elizabeth Denlinger each won four events, and senior Kayla Marshall and junior Kaitlyn Leonard were double-winners in Athens' 115-6 win over Towanda.

Denlinger won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:22.14, and senior Madeline Henderson was second in 1:26.78. She also won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 6:04.42.

Denlinger has now qualified for the District 4 meet in every individual event.

Panek won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.27 seconds and junior Alana Reyes was second in 30.83.

Panek also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:11.22, and Leonard was second in 1:22.02

Thompson won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:41.81, and senior Madeline Henderson was second in 2:48.55.

Thompson won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:10.46, and Leonard was second in 1:18.44.

Thompson, Denlinger, Panek and Leonard teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:03.88.

The same foursome teamed to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:13.59.

Marshall won the 200-yard freestyle in time of 2:30.01, and sophomore Brooke Lyon was second in 2:33.75.

Marshall led a sweep in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in with a time of 1:06.84. Reyes was second in 1:13.19, and freshman Peighton Henry was third in 1:17.6.

Reyes, Lyon, Henry and Henderson teamed to win the 200-yard free relay in a time of 2:05.74.

Senior Penelope Grubb won the 1-meter diving competition with a score 70.55 points

BOYS
Athens 102, Towanda 64

Juniors Brayden Pettitt and Eli Hicks were quad-winners, and senior Ty Lezak and juniors Dominic Musick and Jacob Shores were triple-winners to lead Athens to a 102-64 win over Towanda.

Pettitt won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:10.61, and sophomore Alex Stedge was second in 3:01.82.

Pettitt also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 55.67 seconds.

Hicks won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.76 seconds.

Hick also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.65 seconds, and freshman Shayan Ankam was second in 58.94 seconds.

Pettitt and Hicks teamed with Lezak and Shores to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:36.23.

Pettitt, Hicks and Shores teamed with Musick to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:35.16.

Musick won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 59.3 seconds, and Lezak was second in 1:10.59.

Shores won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:50.15, and junior Austin Quattrini was second in 6:11.39

Lezak led a sweep in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.32, while Shores was second in 1:17.71, and Ankam was third in 1:26.13.

Musick, Quattrini, Lezak and Ankam teamed to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:57.61.

Junior Matt Rossettie finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:21.56.
