NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: NORTHEAST BRADFORD CRUISES TO 72-26 WIN OVER SAYRE (January 8, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Northeast Bradford opened up an early double-digit lead, and cruised to a 72-26 win over Sayre here Thursday night in NTL Small School Division boys basketball action.
"I felt we played a solid first half against arguably the best (Class) AA NTL school we see," said Sayre coach Paul Blythe.
"They hit some big shots but didn’t really get the inside paint work I was worried about," he noted. "Brown is a heck of a ball player and his ability to play inside-out is second to probably no one in our league.
"I felt we did a great job on Wilks inside and Burgert outside as well," said Blythe. "We limited them, but just couldn’t get much going our side.
"I loved the way we played and got into sets, we just couldn’t hit jumpers tonight," added Blythe. "We had lots of chances, we have to convert them better. It’s about the process not protection, and tonight our process was much better than the score showed."
The Panthers jumped out to a 23-7 lead after the first eight minutes, then extended its lead to 36-17 at the half.
NEB put the game out of reach in the third quarter with a 20-7 run that extended the lead to 56-24 entering the fourth quarter.
Junior Declan Barry led Sayre with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shot.
"Declan Barry showed some poise and leadership for us tonight, which we needed out of him," said Blythe.
"Carter Bleiler, although not scoring, did a lot of intangibles for us to keep our offensive flow at a high level," he noted.
"I am very proud of the effort," added Blythe. "We will get better as the season goes and potentially be at the peak at year's end, which is all I can ask for from our squad."
Sophomore Riley Johnson had five points and four rebounds for the Redskins, while senior Carter Bleiler scored five points, and junior Rommel Suba added four points and three steals.
Sayre, now 1-10, returns to action Tuesday when it hosts North Penn-Liberty.
