STAC JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY PULLS AWAY FOR 46-24 WIN OVER FORKS (January 12, 2026)

WAVERLY — Waverly took an early lead, and pulled away for a 46-24 win over Chenango Forks here Saturday afternoon in STAC junior varsity girls basketball action.

Taylin Gonzalez knocked down an early 3-pointer and scored five points in the opening stanza to help Waverly to an 13-8 lead after the first quarter.

Raygane Oakes scored four points in the second to spark a 10-3 run to extend the lead to 23-11 at the half.

Oakes canned a 3-pointer and scored five points, in the third quarter, and Gonzalez added four points as Waverly outscored Forks, 11-7, to push its lead to 34-18 entering the final eight minutes.

Kezlyn DeKay drained and a 3-pointer and had an old-fashion three-point play among her eight fourth-quarter points to help the Wolverines seal the win.

DeKay led Waverly with 10 points and two assists, while Oakes and Gonzalez each had nine points and two assists, Adrianna Foster had four points, 12 rebounds, six steals, two assists, and one blocked shot.

Sophia Dorsey had four points and five boards in the win, while Isabella McEwen had four points and three rebounds, and Paige Bubniak scored four points.

Waverly, now 9-1, returns to action Friday at Chenango Valley.
