NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: NP-LIBERTY RIDES FIRST-QUARTER BLITZ TO 61-32 WIN OVER SAYRE (16 PHOTOS) (January 13, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — North Penn-Liberty erupted for 30 points in the first quarter, and cruised to a 61-32 win over Sayre here Tuesday night in NTL Small School boys basketball action.
Evan McTish pumped in 13 points, including a 7-for-8 performance from the free-throw line, and Conner Lewis added seven points to fuel the Mountaineers game-opening 30-10 blitz in the first quarter.
NP-L made 14 of 16 free-throw attempts in the first quarter, and were 2 of 8 the remainder of the contest.
Seniors Carter Bleiler, who canned a 3-pointer, and Dom Mezzatesta scored four points apiece in the first quarter for the Redskins.
Sophomore Riley McGaughey scored four points in the second quarter, and four other Redskins added buckets, but NP-L used a 17-12 advantage in the stanza to build a 47-22 lead at the halftime break.
Both teams went cold from the field in the second half, with NP-L outscoring Sayre, 6-3, in the third quarter, and 8-7 in the fourth quarter.
Bleiler lead Sayre with nine points, four rebounds and two blocked shots, while Mezzatesta six points and two rebonds, and sophomore Riley Johnson scored points.
Sophomore Riley McGaughey had four points and two boards for the Redskins, while Declan Barry added four points and two assists, freshman Gabe Wheeler grabbed three rebounds, and junior Rommel Suba chipped in with two assists and two steals.
Sayre, now 1-11, travels to Canton Thursday, then hosts Canton Saturday afternoon.
