Deakon Bailey, a redshirt freshman at Division I Binghamton University, was 2-2 in the 174-pound weight class here Friday at the Franklin & Marshall Open.
Bailey dropped a 12-2 major decision to Buffalo's Rafael Knapp in the opening round, but bounced back with a pair of wins in the consolation bracket.
Bailey pinned Sacred Heart's Manny Psikarkis in 39 seconds in the first round of wrestlebacks.
He scored a takedown just eight seconds into the bout, then turned Psikarkis for three near-fall points, before finishing off the fall.
Bailey scored an 11-5 win over Navy's Liam Kilrain in the second round of wrestlebacks.
Bailey recorded the initial takedown and added a tilt to take a 5-0 lead after the first period.
He added a takedown late in the second period to up his lead to 8-0.
Kilrain closed the gap to 9-5 with a reversal and a takedown in the third period, but Bailey added an escape in the closing seconds, and a riding-time point to provide the final margin.
He saw his tournament end with a 7-1 loss to Rutgers' Nathan Blanchette.
Binghamton returns to action Jan. 25 with home duals against Brown and Harvard.
