NTL JV GIRLS BASKETBALL: SAYRE HANGS TOUGH IN 28-16 LOSS AT NP-LIBERTY (January 15, 2025)

Valley Sports Report
LIBERTY — Longtime girls basketball coach Brian Miller, now at the helm of the Sayre junior varsity team, saw a lot of positive in his squad's 28-16 loss to NP-Liberty here Wednesday night.

We played a very good game — the best we've played," said Miller.

"A couple more shots made, and the elimination of silly mistakes, and we could have come out with a win.

"We have many girls playing for the first time, and they are working hard to get better," noted Miller.

"The girls are recognizing skills and concepts in the game of basketball," he added. "I am very proud of their hustle determination and desire to get better as an individual and as a team."

McKenna Roberts scored four points in the first quarter, and Brooke Roberts and Sofia Kline each added buckets for the Redskins, but NP-L led 9-8 after the first quarter.

NP-L used a 9-4 spurt in the second quarter to take an 18-12 lead into the halftime locker room, then outscored Sayre 7-4 in the third quarter, and led 25-16 heading into the final stanza.

Roberts led Sayre with six points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots, while Parrish had four points, three rebounds, two steals, and two blocked shots, and Kline scored four points.

Allia Bennett hauled down six rebounds and blocked four shots, while Afftyn VanDuzer pulled down six boards, and blocked one shot, and Hailey Sanderson grabbed five boards and blocked two shots.

Sayre returns to action Friday when it hosts Canton.
