STAC BOWLING: WAVERLY BOYS WIN MID-WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP; LADY WOLVERINES FINISH EIGHTH (January 17, 2026)

Valley Sports Report
VESTAL — The Waverly boys edged Maine-Endwell by four pins to win the STAC Mid-Winter Championships here Saturday at Midway Lanes, while the Lady Wolverines finished eighth in the 14-team field.

BOYS
Waverly rolled games of 1,104, 1,059, and 1,047 for a three-game total of 3,210 to top Maine-Endwell, which rolled games of 1,096, 1,152, and 958 for a 3,206. Susquehanna Valley finished third with a 3,165, Elmira was fourth with a 3,156, and U-E was fifth at 3,146.

Sophomore Griff Walter led Waverly with a 675 series on games of 268, 180, and 227, and senior Derek Johnson shot a 665 series on games of 171, 269, and 225.

Walter and Johnson finished 11th and 14, respectively, in the individual standings on the day.

Freshman Colten Santalucia rolled a 656 on games of 189, 216, and 251 for the Wolverines, while senior Tristan Campbell had a 620 on games of 243, 213, and 164, and Maison Apgar added a 594 series on games of 233, 181 and 180.

GIRLS
U-E won the girls team title with a 2,719 series, while Elmira was second at 2,695, and Corning was third at 2,592. Waverly rolled a 2,271 series.

Rylie Witman led Waverly with a 511 series, while Ariel Houseknecht shot a 495, and Aby Apgar had a 455.

Karis Hayes added a 441 for the Wolverines, and Emmalyn Vanderpool tacked on a 369 series.

Waverly returns to action Wednesday at Susquehanna Valley.
