ATHENS GIRLS' 200 FREE RELAY BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD

TUNKHANNOCK — Senior Evelyn Panek, and juniors Brayden Pettitt and Eli Hicks each registered four top-four finishes to pace Athens here Saturday at the Tunkhannock Swimming & Diving Invitational.

PANEK LEADS ATHENS GIRLS AT TUNKHANNOCK INVITE
Panek had the two best individual performances — third and fourth-place finishes —  for the Wildcats and also swam on a pair of third-place relays.

Panek placed third in the 50-yard freestyle a time of 26.02 seconds, while senior Olivia Thompson was fifth in 26.84, senior Elizabeth Denlinger was eighth in 27.29 seconds, and ad junior Kaitlyn Leonard was ninth in 27.33 seconds.

Panek finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.99 seconds, while Thompson placed fifth in 59.45 seconds, Leonard was 10th in 1:02.71, and senior Kayla Marshall was 15th in 1:05.0.

Thompson, Denlinger, Panek and Leonard teamed to finish third in the 200-freestyle relay in a school-record time of 1:45.95. The foursome of Alaina Reyes, Brooke Lyon, Kayla Marshall and Madeline Henderson placed seventh in a time of 1:57.68.

Thompson, Denlinger, Panek and Leonard also teamed to finish third in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 2:00.11

Denlinger placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:17.39, and Henderson was 14th in 1:26.24.

The foursome of Reyes, Lyon, Marshall and Peighton Henry finished fifth in the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 4:41.51.

Lyon finished 13th in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:31.82

PETTITT, HICKS PACE ATHENS BOYS
Pettitt had the best finish of the day for any Wildcat swimming, logging a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.02 seconds.

Pettitt finished third in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.0 seconds.

Hicks placed third in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.4 seconds, while junior Dominic Musick was 13th in 55.07 seconds, and senior Ty Lezak was 15th in 55.87 seconds.

Pettitt, Hicks, Musick, and junior Jacob Shores teamed to finish third in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:33.96. The foursome of Lezak, freshman Shayan Ankam, sophomore Austin Quattrini and junior Matt Rossettie finished ninth in a time of 1:44.32

Hicks placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.69 seconds, and junior Jacob Shores was 12th in 24.32 seconds.

Pettitt, Hicks, Musick and Shores teamed to finish fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:28.95.

Shores was ninth in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:34.25, and sophomore Austin Quattrini was 13th in 6:07.22.

Lezak finished 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.99, and Ankam was 15th in 1:17.64.

Athens travels to Jersey Shore Tuesday.
