VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: TIOGA'S KITHCART, ATHENS' PANEK NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (January 19, 2026)

THE VALLEY — Tioga junior Gavin Kithcart had a monster game to help Tioga to a big win, and Athens senior Evelyn Panek turned in a strong performance at Tunkhannock Swimming & Diving Invite. They are the VSR / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Jan. 17.

TIOGA'S KITHCART NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Kithcart averaged 25 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game in two games for the Tigers.

On Friday, in a 78-47 win over Southern Cayuga, Kithcart had career-highs with 37 points and 22 rebounds, to go along with one assist.

In an 82-45 loss to Candor Tuesday, Kithcart had 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

ATHENS' PANEK NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Panek had the two best individual performances — third and fourth-place finishes —  for the Wildcats and also swam on a pair of third-place relays Saturday.

Panek placed third in the 50-yard freestyle, and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.

She also swam on a pair third-place relays, including the 200-freestyle relay that established a new school-record with a time of 1:45.95.
