IAC GIRLS WRESTLING: TOOMEY WINS TITLE, NELSON RUNNER-UP TO LEAD TIOGA TO 10TH-PLACE FINISH AT WINDSOR TOURNEY (14 PHOTOS) (January 19, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWINDSOR — Junior Amelia Toomey won an individual title, while junior Kyah Nelson was a runner-up, and freshman Grace Howey wrestled back for a seventh-place finish to lead Tioga to a 10th-place finish in the 43-team field here Monday afternoon at the Windsor Lady Knight Girls Wrestling Invitational.
Union-Endicott won the team title with 144.5 points, edging out Section III's General Brown, which had 140 points, and Section III's Homer, which had 136.5 points.
Tioga tallied 79.5 points, while Waverly was 12th with 76.5 points, Newark Valley was 13th with 74.5 points, SVEC was 26th with 39 points, and Owego Free Academy was 28th with 34.5 points.
Toomey, the top seed, went 4-0 to claim the 138-pound title.
Toomey opened with a 67-second fall of U-E's Kenedi Manicelli in the round-of-16, then decked West Genesee's Julia Litovkina in 57 seconds in the quarterfinals.
Toomey scored an 11-0 technical fall win over fifth-seeded Caitlin Kalunda of Indian River in the semifinals.
In the title match, Toomey decked third-seeded Emma Spanbauer of Homer in 4:02.
Nelson, the second seed, was 3-1 to finish second in the 185-pound bracket.
Nelson opened with a 16-second pin of Dundee-Bradford's Evelyn Dillon in the round-of-16, then decked Liberty's Guiliana Wagner in 41 seconds.
In the semifinals, Nelson flattened U-W's Cadence Trinidad in 46 seconds.
Nelson fell victim to U-E ace and top seed Teagan McGuinness via a 10-0 technical fall in the finals.
Freshman Grace Howey was 4-3 to place seventh in the 114-pound bracket.
After scoring a fall over Valley Central's Sabrina Mandeville in 1:41 in the opening round, Howey lost via first-period fall to second-seeded Remington Marshall of Groton in the round-of-16.
Howey won with a no contest in the first round of wrestlebacks, then pinned Elana Westbrook of Canisteo-Greenwood In 2:02, and won another no contest in the consolation quarterfinals.
Howey lost to Anna Aldrich of Homer via second-period fall in the consolation semifinals, then lost via fall to SVEC's Taylor Zufall in the final 10 seconds.
Senior Mia Hall was 2-2 in the 114-pound bracket.
Hall opened her day with a pin of Liberty's Emma Stonick in 1:37 in the opening round, then decked Walton-Delhi's Gwynavere Northrup in 1:46 in the round-of-16.
In the quarterfinals, Hall lost via first-period fall to top-seeded Isabella Phelps of Sidney, who went on to win the 114-pound title. She was eliminated via technical fall by Zufall.
Sophomore Vida Rossi was 1-2 in the 120-pound bracket, with her lone win a 34-second pin of West Genesee's Charlotte Retkwa.
Senior Sophia Haney was 0-2 in the 132-pound bracket and freshman Emily Moniz was 0-2 at 235 pounds.
